CDFU implements a full range of development communication activities including strategic communication design, planning and monitoring; radio, video, and television drama design, scriptwriting, research, community mobilization and communication campaigns as specified below.
Design of Communication Strategies: CDFU has wide experience in design of communication strategies addressing health and development issues including prevention of HIV and treatment of AIDS, malaria prevention and control, maternal and child health as well as micro finance consumer education. Other areas for which CDFU has developed strategies include adolescent reproductive health, blood donation, conflict resolution and cross cutting issues for the road sub-sector. CDFU uses world-proven processes and methodologies to design communication strategies based on evidence.
Development and production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials:
CDFU has extensive experience in developing materials including concept design, pre-testing and production of print ready materials. In particular, CDFU has experience in working with the target audiences to design messages and materials. The organization has an in-house design unit and develops IEC materials including posters, job aids, flip charts, leaflets, brochures, stickers, signs, comic books, banners, t-shirts, caps and calendars.
Community mobilization: CDFU works with districts, leaders, community based organizations and networks to mobilize communities for health and development programs. CDFU’s approach emphasizes participation of all key stakeholders throughout the process. We utilize participatory and enter-educate approaches to engage communities in order to promote positive behavior and social change and utilization of services. CDFU has experience in working with networks of community volunteers who provide information, refer people to services and promote sustainability of programs.
Training: CDFU develops participatory community tools and approaches. These include training curricula and other training aids. The organization also trains trainers plus peer educators who provide skills and information about a range of issues including HIV&AIDS, child health, malaria, reproductive health/family planning. CDFU also develops curricula and trains district based officials in social and behavior change communication as well as production of radio programs and spots on a range of health and development topics.
