Seated in his home in Kaluba Village, Mayuge district, Kaumba Ismail is all praises for the project that helped him realize he needed to make some steps to improve his family’s life. He does this with such enviable compassion, zeal and responsibility. He had just been talking to a group of Imams from Mayuge District about family planning. His model of building empowered quality families is through encouraging community members to have manageable numbers, paying priority to the health of the mother.

Saving to kick out malaria, CDFU’S SUCCESS
In a four wall room simple household in Kyanjale village, Kabonera Sub County, Masaka district a woman shows us her saving box. On days when she has money she deposits one hundred shillings in hope that she will save up enough money to buy a treated mosquito net to protect her baby from malaria. The cost of a treated Net is UGX 7,000. During the month of June 2011, the SMP team visited Nassuna Shakira an 18 year old, single mother of a 4 months old baby boy.
CDFU participates in the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) Project - IRS Project makes great steps in the fight against malaria
CDFU provides Behaviour Change Communication/Information, Education and Communication support for the IRS project. While mobilizing communities, we have come across people who testify they have benefited from the project:

IRS project is a USAID supported project under the President Malaria Initiative (PMI) aimed at malaria prevention through IRS of all households where people sleep in the selected districts with high incidence of malaria.
