Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) received FaridahLuyigaMwanje, a MakSPH-CDC HIV/AIDS fellow, on August 8th 2011. CDFU in collaboration with the Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) will provide mentorship support for the fellow through capacity building in maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS and leadership and management for a period of two years. Faridah says; I’m privileged to have been placed in a communications organisation. With my background as a newspaper health editor, I am confident this placement will enable build on my skills in journalism and also use them in a different way to benefit CDFU.Faridah

I’m passionate about helping people and really glad to work with an organisation that touches people’s lives, by empowering them to improve their well-being through behaviour change communication.  With two wonderful mentors who are always willing to guide, teach and also learn from me, I’m confident my apprenticeship at CDFU will be worthwhile.

I have had the opportunity to work with several renowned organisations that CDFU partners with and this has enabled me appreciate CDFU’s role as a champion for change. I truly enjoy working with the team at CDFU and appreciate the support from staff during my stay so far. I look forward to learning more and making a positive contribution to the work done by CDFU.

The fellow’s main focus is Maternal and Child Health, Advocacy and Monitoring and Evaluation. She will also learn from other CDFU projects. The Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for hands-on training in HIV/AIDs, Reproductive Health, maternal and child health program leadership and management for both fellows and host institutions.
